under the sea - Mark

  1. Acrylic on board, 12 x 10
Originally started as an experiment with the new Windsor and Newton Artist's acrylic range,

A single colour wash in phthalo blue over a white textured gesso ground which was laid in a random fashion.
A rubber blade was dragged through the wet wash which gave the impression of the spine and tail flukes of the whale.
With a little research and observation I managed to pull this image out of the depths (no pun intended)

  2. It's great when that happens. Do you always work in this way?

  3. Sometimes Sheila, I see things happening in paint as it puddles or dries, sometimes the serendipitous nature of art takes my breath away.
